Organizers of the Wimbledon have announced that they will ban all the selfie sticks from this year’s Wimbledon tennis championship. It has been confirmed that All England Lawn Tennis Club has confirmed that the fans will not be allowed to take or use the sticks in the Wimbledon headquarters at south-west London during the Grand Slam tournament.

The guideline from the AELTC has mentioned, “In common with many other major sports and entertainment events and cultural attractions, the championships will not allow selfie sticks into the grounds”. The guidelines for the AELTC are often accused of being hidebound for the insistence that the players at the tournament still wear white clothing.

The selfie sticks are used to take selfie portrait photos which are these days popular on social networking sites and all other forms of social media. The devices have been banned from various venues as they obstruct the view of other spectators in the venue. Totenham Hotspur, English Premiere League football club have banned the usage of selfie sticks from the White Hart Lane ground in north London.

These devices have also been banned from the Colosseum in Rome and the Smithsonian museum in Washington. The Wimbledon tennis championship is all set to begin from June 29, 2015 to July 12, 2015.
