At around 1.30pm local time, a 7.2. magnitude earthquake hit Tajikistan, the US Geological Survey said. Tremors and aftershocks were said to be felt in Delhi and Pakistan as well.

The epicenter of the natural calamity was some 345kms away from the country’s capital, Dushanbe.

Surrounding countries including India, Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan did feel the effects of the tremors, though there were no reported infrastructural damages.

News is just coming in about the earthquake and Tajikistan’s Emergencies Committee has so far said that there is no report of any loss of life, injuries or construction collapses so far.
