Indian handset manufacturer Ringing Bells is all set to launch an affordable smartphone that will cost under Rs. 500. The new handset by the company will be launched on February 17, 2016. The new move by the handset manufacturer is expected to disrupt things in the flourishing handset market.
The launch of the handset is a part of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for empowering India to the last person and the move is expected to transform the growth story of the country. The new smartphone known as the ‘Freedom 251’ will be launched by the Defence Minister Manohar Parrikkar.
The company has sent a media invitation which says, “The phone will be popularly priced at under Rs 500 and the launch stands as a true testimony of success of the latest initiatives taken by the Government of India”.
Currently, the smartphones that are available in the market begin from Rs. 1,500. Ringing Bells was established in 2015 and will begin assembling the handsets but has not disclosed any more details on the features. Affordable tablet manufacturer Datawind had assured that it would join hands with Reliance Communications and would launch a smartphone that would be priced around Rs.999 but the handset has not hit the market yet.
