Asia Bizz: Bom Sabado Worm Attacks Social Network Site Orkut
Social networking site, Orkut, has been attacked by the Bom Sabado worm, which becomes the second major XSS (cross site scripting) attack on a major social networking website. Orkut which is owned by Google, has stated that it has been flooded by Bom Sabado scraps all over the website.
The Bom Sabado word means Good Saturday in Portuguese, which is the official language of Brazil, which now considered to be the last remaining bastions for Orkut in the world. The virus is sending scraps with the text ‘Bom Sabado’ to many of the users on the website, plus it makes the members account join various Orkut groups on the website.
Experts have asked the the Orkut users to avoid logging on to the website till the problem has been solved. This is the second time that Orkut has been attacked by XSS virus and that Google needs to secure the social networking website from such attacks as soon as it can.
