Asia Bizz: Blackberry Playbook Launched – Research In Motion Announces Rival To Apple iPad
Research In Motion BlackBerry has launched the latest tablet PC – Playbook, which is considered a direct rival to the Apple iPad. RIM unveiled the latest tablet computer at the conference DEVCON in San Fransisco. The Playbook is said to be the first business-centric device in the market of tablet PC’s. Mike Lazaridis of Research in Motion, stated that the device has the most cutting edge technology currently available in the market.
According to Mr. Lazaridis, the device has the best hardware configuration and runs on of the most robust and flexible operating system the market has ever seen. The latest tablet runs on the QNX software, a software system that has recently been taken over by RIM. The company states that the Playbook, looks as a direct rival to the Apple iPad in the market.
The tablet comes with a 7 inch screen, and unbelievably with front and rear facing camera’s which can help in having video conferences online via the tablet. The Tablet has BlueTooth and Wi-Fi, but no 3G capability, but the tablet can connect to a 3G system by tethering with a 3G compatible smartphone.
The customers around the world are really excited to see the latest tablet in offering by RIM, and that they have stated the tablet will be available in the market by early 2011. The only point of concern is the price of the device, which needs to be very realistic compared to its rivals.
