Chinese tech giant Xiaomi has announced the latest addition to its popular budget phone series Redmi Note 4. The company has launched the Lake Blue edition for the series which will support Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (cleanliness movement). The device launch was announced on September 1, 2017 and will go on sale on the online as well as offline stores on September 4, 2017.
The Lake Blue edition will be available at 12 pm on Mi.com, Flipkart.com online stores and Mi Preferred Partner stores, Mi Home Stores and other offline partner stores across India. However, the device is a limited edition one and the company has two intensions towards its launch. One is to promote Prime Minister’s Swacch Bharat Abhiyan and second to restore the water bodies in the city of Bengaluru.
Xiaomi has announced the Wake Lake Project which will focus on restoring Kempabudhi kerre in Bengaluru. The company has also showed support for the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike and United Way which is an NGO that helps to restore lakes in the city. Talking about the device, the Lake Blue edition comes in three variants, 2 GB RAM/32 GB storage, 3GB RAM/32 GB storage and 4GB RAM/64 GB storage.
The 2 GB RAM variant is priced at Rs. 9,999 while the 3 GB RAM variant is priced at Rs. 10,999 and the 4GB RAM variant has a price tag of Rs. 12,999. The device has a 5 inch HD curve glass display and is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 435 processor and runs on MIUI 8 Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. The company has assured that the device will soon be upgraded to the Android Nougat soon. The Lake Blue edition has an all metal body with a 13 mega pixel rear camera and 5 mega pixel front cameras for selfies and has a massive 4,100 mAh battery. So the buyers of the Lake Blue Edition will be contributing in the restoration of lakes in the city of Bengaluru.
