Bollywood stars often receive notices for undertaking illegal construction on their respective properties. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has issued a notice to Bollywood actress and now an international star Priyanka Chopra for carrying out illegal construction at her spa and salon located at Oshiwara, Mumbai.

One of the civic officials on the condition of anonymity said that that the BMC had received complaints about the irregularities in the construction of Charishma Beauty Spa and Salon that is owned by the actor. The senior ward officer added, “Our team visited the spa and found that that the actress had built a mezzanine floor flouting the rules under the Maharashtra Regional Town Planning Act”.

It was also found that the spa had non-permissible glass cabin walls along with illegal amalgamations of cabins and rooms. The official also said, “In the notice, we have asked the owner to remove the unauthorised alterations and restore the construction as per the lay-out sanctioned in 2013”. The BMC official added that if the actress fails to comply with the notice then they would demolish the illegal alterations.

The Barfi actress or her representatives could not be reached despite several attempts. The rules of BMC mention that it can also offer the owner of the property the option of paying penalty and getting the unauthorized alterations regularized. Reports say that the actress has leased out the spa to another person who runs it. Priyanka is not the first celebrity to face such a notice from the BMC. Earlier celebrities like Shatrughan Sinha, Arshad Warsi, Shah Rukh Khan and comedian Kapil Sharma have faced notices from the BMC for illegal constructions at their respective properties in Mumbai. Priyanka Chopra was recently in India with her alleged boyfriend Nick Jonas. The two spent a few days holidaying in Goa and also attended the engagement festivities of Akash Ambani and Shloka Mehta.
