The country of Phuket, which is known for its tourists spots, is all set to welcome tourists again. However, it will be opening the borders only for the tourists who have been vaccinated. Vaccination drives have started off since months across the globe and it would not be a surprise to see a crowd of tourists arriving Phuket for a long awaited holiday. The country is opening its borders from July 2021.
The best part is that the tourism group in Thailand is offering hotel rooms for as low as $1. It is a part of the campaign one-night, one-dollar that has been proposed by the Tourism Council of Thailand. Under this campaign some of the hotel rooms will be offered for just $1 per night. These rooms on a regular basis could be available for 1000 to 3000 baht for a night. If the program that has been launched turns out to be a success, then it could expand the campaign to more tourists places including Bangkok and Koh Samui.
Yuthasak Supasorn, the governor of TAT while talking to a leading daily said that Thailand will become the pilot destination for the tourists who have been fully vaccinated and from the low-risk countries. The tourists would have to abide by the strict rules and regulations due to the pandemic. Chamnan Srisawat, the president of TCT expressed that the tourism in Thailand has been suffering for nearly 15 months due to the pandemic and only mass tourism would help them recover. The economy of the country mainly depends on tourism.
In order to make things work, the government of Thailand is looking forward to vaccinate at least 70 percent of its population before it reopens its border for foreign tourists. Ever since the pandemic began, the country has faced 1.77 lakh COVID-19 positive cases and 1236 deaths. The government had closed its borders for tourism due to the rising number of cases.
