Asia Bizz: Toyota Recall 2010 – 1.5 Million Cars To Be Recalled Due To Brake Fault

Toyota Recall 2010 – Japanese car giant Toyota Motor Corp. has announced that it will be recalling 1.5 million cars in order to fix a brake fluid leak. The recall will cover 600,000 cars in Japan, 30,000 in Australia and 740,000 in USA. It will apply to 13 models, including the Toyota Mark X, Toyota Crown sedan, the Lexus IS and GS.

Reports state that there were two filings by Toyota, wherein in the first filing, Toyota stated that it will recall 599,029 cars to fix defective fuel pump wires, in addition to some defects in the brake master cylinders. The second filing, states that Toyota will recall 1,869 cars of their Voxy and Noah models as a result of defects on the speedometer.

Additional reports state that Toyota is also recalling around 50,000 cars in Europe, 60,000 in China and around 50,000 more in several other Asian countries.

The models which will be recalled in the US are the Lexus RX330, the 2005-2006 models of the Avalon, 2004-2006 non-hybrid models of the Highlander, as well as the 2006 Lexus GS300, IS250 and IS350 vehicles. US owners will be notified somewhere in the first part of November.
