Asia Bizz: Honda To Launch The CBR250R In India By 2011
Honda will be launching the CBR250R mid-ranged sports motorcycle in India, by the mid 2011. This will be the first 200+ cc motorcycle from Honda to hit the Indian roads officially for the first time. This motorcycle will be falling in the category of 200-300 cc, which also include the Mahindra Mojo, Pulsar 220, Ninja 250R and the Hero Honda Karizma which are present in the Indian market.
The heart of the motorcycle is a 249cc, single cylinder DOHC, PGM-Fi featured engine, which pumps out 26 bhp at 8500 rpm. It will be priced around 2-3 lakh, which falls in the range of the Mahindra Mojo and Kawasaki Ninja 250R.
It has been seen, that there is a steep rise in demand of higher capacity engine bikes in India, and as a result of which all the motorcycle companies are looking forward to launch their own high capacity bikes in the Indian market. Honda has promised that it will be launching eight new models in year 2011, and the CBR250R is the first one of them. The company wishes to launch the vehicle with a highly competitive price tag compared to it’s other rivals in the Indian market.
It is said that the bike would be debuting in India by April-May 2011, which is still a long way to go. Experts are also eying other bike manufacturers in India, and there are two major bike companies who have still not launched their high end 200cc+ capacity bikes in India, Yamaha and TVS Motors. What looks from her is that, even these companies would be shifting gears and will be bringing their own bikes in the market pretty soon.
