Asia Bizz: Darvocet Recall, Propoxyphene Drug Pulled Out Of The Global Market
American pain killer, Darvocet has undergone a recall, the Propoxyphene drug has been officially pulled out of the global market. According to the Food and Drug Administration, the medicine contains a very dangerous substance called Propoxyphene, and it is because of this there were concerns over the drug and it had to be pulled out of the market.
The FDA has asked Xanodyne Pharmaceuticals, the company which manufactures Darvocet to recall the drug from all the stores the available in the market. The withdrawing process has already begun in Europe, and also will soon begin in the US. The FDA has researched over the drug and has said that Propoxyphene usage causes heart rhythm problems, which can also be fatal.
After a market study it was also known that at least 10 million people around the world are using Darvocet which contains Propoxyphene in it. It is not a point to be disheartened about the fact that one can surely develop a heart disease, if one stops using it, there would be no risk of developing a heart ailment.
