The Toyota Etios sedan has been finally launched in India, and comes at a price which ranges between Rs. 4.96 – 6.86 lakhs. According to Toyota, this vehicle ‘epitomises quality’ and will prove to be a very good car for Indian roads. It is considered to be an entry level sedan and experts state that this vehicle will give tough competition to other Indian cars like Maruti DZire, Mahindra Logan and the Fiat Linea.

Toyota President Akio Toyoda was in India for the launch event, and he said that is really the first time in the past four years that he has visited India, but the launch of the Toyota Etios Sedan has begun a new chapter for Toyota in India. He added that some 400 engineers have spent countless hours in developing this vehicle, and he also apologized to the public for the recall of vehicles, that have been done a couple of times on a global scale this year.

The Toyota Etios car comes with a 1.5L petrol engine and the company plans to launch a smaller variant of the same car called the Liva, a hatchback verison, with a 1.2L engine some time next year. The deliveries for the Etios will begin in January 2011.

The price of the Toyota Etios varies, with reports stating that it comes at 4.96 lac for the ‘J’ model (ex-Delhi showroom), while the ‘G’ variant will cost Rs.5.46 lac.
