The announcement by PayPal has come during the time of turmoil for the Wikileaks as it has been struggling to keep the website afloat after a series of ban’s and attacks from the US Government.
Other counterparts of Wikileaks, like Amazon and EveryDNS too have cut off their connection with website, after it got shrouded in criticism of exposing various classified documents of the United States government. Supporters of Wikileaks were trying to donate money to website via PayPal but their transaction could not take place and there was an error message occurring continuously.
The error message that appears during the transaction reads – “This recipient is currently unable to receive money.” According to a statement made by PayPal, it says that it cannot validate transaction of money for activities that encourage, promote, facilitate or instruct others to engage in illegal activity.
