Asia Bizz: Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of social networking website Facebook, has joined 16 other billionaires from the US, in donating a huge chunk of their earnings to charity. These billionaires have reportedly made an agreement with the “Giving Pledge”, an organization which aims at helping billionaires to donate around 50 per cent of their net wealth for charitable causes.
Reports state that Zuckerberg’s Facebook is believed to have brought him $6.9 billion. However, this 26-year old founder is not going to wait till he’s older to donate, and says that now is a better time to donate. Dustin Moskovitz, who co-founded Facebook in 2005 has also pledged to donate a part of his fortune.
The “Giving Pledge” came into existence thanks to Warren Buffett and Bill Gates, and has around 57 members. The money that is pledged to the organization is them used for charitable donations.
