Asia Bizz: BMW X1 will be releasing in India on the 23rd December, an additional step taken by the German car manufacturer to enhance its presence in India. BMW X1 is an SUV offered by the company for Indian customers, as the vehicle has hauled great success around the world. There would be diesel and petrol versions in the country, which would feature both automatic and manual transmissions.

In addition to the launch, the BMW X1 car has been priced around Rs. 20 lakhs, making it the cheapest BMW in India. This vehicle will be standing against Toyota Fortuner, Mitsubishi Outlander, Ford Endeavour, Honda CR-V, and the Chevrolet Captiva.

The car will be imported as a Complete Knock Down Kit, and will be considered as a high performance low priced SUV. The vehicle will be launched in a 1.8L petrol engine and also 2.0L diesel engine. On the other hand, Mercedes lost its title of being the most sold luxury in India to BMW, as for the year 2010, BMW sold 5,345 units compared to Merc’s 5109 units.
