Asia Bizz: NTT Docomo, one of Japan’s largest wireless communication carrier is said to begin high capacity broadband data service in the nation’s major cities. The ‘Xi’ service which will be using the LTE Mobile phone technology to serve itself, will be provided to residential PC’s initially, through a dedicated device itself.

NTT is looking forward to expand the service to all the major cities in Japan by the year 2012, after it commences the voice call service by 2011. The Xi services is a whole new level of data and communication system, it contains speeds which will be 10 times faster that a normal 3G service.

This service will be available for a nominal monthly charge of 4,935 yen and will consist a contract of two years, ending in the year 2012. Experts state that by the usage of LTE technology, devices will be receiving speeds compared to fibre optic connectivity. This is going to revolutionize the methodology of speed on phones and other portable devices in Japan.
