Asia Bizz: Technology and machines can be faster and more environmental friendly with the new ultra fast 1,000 core computer processor. The new core computer processor has been created for a faster and a greener working.
Initially computers were created with only a single processor that could read and execute the data. However these days machines are created with over 16 processors, which are now become common.
The person who has created the processor with 1,000 cores in a single chip is Dr. Wim Vanderbauwhede, from the University of Glascow. Dr Wim has created the chip with the help of his colleagues from the University of Massachusetts Lowell.
Dr Wim said that they had used a Field Programmable Gate Array in order to create this chip. “FPGAs are not used within standard computers because they are fairly difficult to program but their processing power is huge while their energy consumption is very small because they are so much quicker – so they are also a greener option,” Dr Wim said. Some 1,000 mini circuits were created in the FPGA chip, which allows each to perform a separate task.
