Asia Bizz: Maruti Suzuki’s Kizashi, mid-sized car, will be launched in India on the 2nd of February. The vehicle is a CBU and is going to be imported directly from Suzuki’s Japan factory. This makes it a long time since Maruti will import a vehicle completely from the Suzuki Japanese facility.
Priced between Rs.17-20 Lakhs, the car is using the same 2.4L engine used in the Grand Vitara SUV. According to auto analysts, the car is going to compete against the Skoda Superb, Honda Civic and VW Jetta, which falls in its category; plus they feel the car can steal away some of their customers too.
After placing the order, reports state that it will take around 8 weeks for the car to get delivered to the customer. Maruti is also in talks with Suzuki Japan to get the vehicle assembled at their plant in India itself, and is also looking forward to get a diesel version of the Kizashi in market very soon. The diesel mid-sized car market has been dominated by the Verna, Fiesta and Vento, and Maruti will need to try hard to capture this particular market.
