Asia Bizz: Mobile phone manufacturing giant Nokia had recently announced some amazing statistics of its Ovi Store, which quite surprisingly wasn’t so popular during its launch. The company said that its application store has recorded a whopping five million downloads every day, and with new devices being launched every month, the download mark is set to increase.

The people who frequently download from the store are the owners of the latest Nokia phones, which include Nokia C6-01, Nokia E7, Nokia C7 and Nokia N8. The Ovi store was launched in the year 2009 by Nokia, but the store did not have a good start as the users had complained of slow navigation and its poor user friendliness.

However, in the recent days the company has compensated for those errors by improvising the services by rectifying the navigation problems and making it a lot more user friendly, and sophisticated. Nokia left no stone unturned for promoting the Ovi store, by announcing a $10 million contest.

The contest had told the users to create applications and register them. 51 developers have been offered more than $ 4 million for creating the most popular and high-tech applications. A prize money of $5.8 million has been offered for the top four winners. The winners will also be given the opportunity to feature in the Nokia’s 2011 marketing campaigns. As a result the Nokia store has now more than 40,000 applications, with 1,000 applications added every week.
