Asia Bizz: The new 2012 Beetle has been launched by Volkswagen and all Beetles fans will be surely excited by the announcement made by the huge company. The Beetle is a retro version and over the decades, the impact of this model by Volkswagen has been remarkable.
The Beetle will be seen later this week at the New York Auto Show. Everyone is excited to see the new Beetle and what a better place to view this beauty than getting to see it at the New York Auto Show. For the Asian markets, customers will have to wait too see the car for some more time.
The most important aspects of the new Beetle is the flat roof-line, unlike the old round ones. The car is also a little longer and wider than its older version and the hood of the car looks lot more prominent. The car comes with many engine versions - the entry level engine is a 2.5-liter 5-cylinder front wheel drive. The other option available will be a sporty 2.0 liter turbocharged diesel engine. This time, the Beetle will also be the most fuel efficient engine with 40 miles per gallon on the highway. The 4 seater will also been equipped with modern interiors.
The Asian markets will have to surely wait much after September, as the Beetle will be made available in the US at that time and maybe early next year Asian countries will get to see them. The Beetle has not been given a price tag as for now, but it could be a little cheaper as the car did not sell that well in the year 2010. This is a setback for the model because at one time the car was very famous and sold a lot of units in the 50’s and even after that.
Remember the series of movies that made the sales even go higher? The car was a superhero in the movie series Herbie.
