Asia Bizz: Electronics manufacturer LG has officially announced the first glasses-free 3D smart phone, the LG Optimus 3D. The phone is the latest addition to the popular Optimus series.
The Optimus 3G is the latest addition to the popular Optimus series, which already has the LG Optimus 2X with dual core. The new smartphone has a stereoscopic 3D display that has the capacity to display images in 3D without the help of glasses.
The Optimus 3D has a 4.3 inch display with 1080p HD video playback in 2D. It also has a 720p HD video playback in 3D. The other features of the phone include real time 2D to 3D conversion of videos and photos, HDMI port, DLNA capabilities and 3D augmented reality browser.
However, not much details of the hardware were released, but it is expected that the phone should have dual core 1GHz ARM Cortex A9 processor. The Optimus 3D will be an Android 2.3 Gingerbread device. The 3D smart phone is expected to arrive first at the European market. Later, the phone will be released in 60 other markets around the world. The unique 3D smart phone was revealed at the Mobile World Congress earlier this year. If the 3D works well with the phone, it is expected that the phone would sell like hot cakes in the market.
