Asia Bizz: Indian auto giant, Bajaj in collaboration with Austrian sports bike manufacturer KTM, have developed their first motorcycle. KTM said that they would be launching the bike at the Auto Expo, which is awaited next year in New Delhi.

The co-developed bike has already been launched in Europe in the month of March 2011. Bajaj Auto holds 40 percent stake in KTM. Stefan Pierer, the Cross Industries AG CEO and also the CEO of KTM Sports motorcycle AG said that they would be launching the first 200cc Duke motorbike in India in the next year’s Auto Expo in Delhi.

Pierer added that the motorbike will be produced in a Pune plant of Bajaj Auto. While talking about the sales target in the Indian market, Pierer said that they expect to sell about 25,000 to 30,000 units of the bike in the first year of its launch.

The KTM CEO also disclosed that they are also planning to launch the 350 cc Duke in India after a year. The 125 cc Duke was launched in Europe in the month of March. With regards to the sales in Europe, the company said that they have already sold 7,000 units of the bike in Europe and are looking forward to sell 10,000 units this year.
