Asia Bizz: With the rise of petrol prices in India, car buyers now are showing a distinct preference to diesel-powered cars. Such a situation has also contributed to certain difficulties for the auto manufacturers in terms of sales. With the popularity of the diesel cars, the sales of the petrol cars have now declined.
American auto manufacturer Ford is also facing a similar problem, which has affected the production of the cars. Michael Boneham, the MD of Ford India has said that the situation will be resolved in the upcoming three months and the deliveries of the car are expected to be back on track.
Compared to the previous year records, the demand for diesel cars have risen by 10 to 15 percent. At the launch of the new Global Ford Fiesta in Mumbai on Thursday, Boneham said that there is a significant impact on the production of the diesel cars.
Right now, the company is facing the problem of shortage of powertrain related components. Boneham had revealed that out of the total number of units produced, 70 percent of the cars were diesel-powered. The company has recently launched the new Ford Fiesta which has been priced at the range of Rs. 8.23 lakhs to Rs. 9.27 lakhs ex showroom New Delhi.
