Asia Bizz: In one of the biggest purchases made by a single firm, an Indian car rental company has purchased 90 Mercedes Benz cars. The dealer is from Gurgaon and has reportedly made the biggest purchase from the German car company.
This is the largest single deal a company has made in the Asian country. The company had made the order for customized, C-class gold tinged Mercedes. Each car costs more than Rs. 28 lakhs. The managing director of the car rental company, Rajiv Vij said that the purchase of the vehicles was made keeping in mind the rising demand for the luxury vehicles in the cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Gurgaon, Hyderabad and Chennai.
Vij added that 25 % of the car rental revenues come from the luxury segment. For now the deal for the luxury car market is gong well in the country. The client base has expanded in the metropolises. The senior official at the Mercedes Benz has opined that in the upcoming ten years the demand for the high end luxury vehicles will increase in the market.
Gurgaon is a city that is just behind the bigger cities like Delhi where 300 to 400 cars are sold in a year. It is also reported that the luxury segment covers the 5% of the automobile market in the country.
