Asia Bizz: In some good news for all those who wish to own a Mercedes Benz car, the German Luxury car maker has announced that they would be launching a new compact range in the Indian market. One of the top company officials had made the announcement that the cars will be rolled out by the end of 2012.

Peter Honegg, the MD and CEO of the Mercedes Benz India has said that cars with left-hand drive option will be introduced in the Indian as well as the European markets. Honegg announced that the cars, that are manufactured at the facility in Germany, will be rolled out in Europe by the end of this year.

Later by 2012-13, the cars will hit the Indian markets as Completely Knocked Down units (CKD). The company has a facility in Chakan near Pune, but it is not capable to manufacture the compact class at present.

The Chakan facility manufactures the C class as well as the E class cars. The price of the new compact class has not been revealed by the company. Peter had also said that last year they had sold 5,800 cars, and this year they aim to cross 7,000 cars. Apart from the luxury cars, Mercedes Benz aims to increase the sales of the Actros buses this year.
