Asia Bizz: Renault Pulse, one of the most awaited hatchbacks from the French carmaker for India, has finally been launched on November 30. During the Formula 1 race there was quite a bit of a hush-bush in the sidelines as Renault gave the media a preview of its latest offering.
The first look at the car brings to mind the Nissan Micra, as the Renault-Nissan Indian bond can be clearly seen in the Pulse. Experts state that the car is based on a revolutionary V-platform, plus there has been a lot of work done by the Renault engineers on the car’s body and panels.
There is a 1.5 ltr dCi motor that powers the machine, giving an output of 65bhp; the petrol version is currently not available in the country. The interiors are almost a mirror image of the Micra, it seems the company has not dealt much with the luxury of the car, except placing a large Renault logo on the steering wheel.
The Renault Pulse will be priced between Rs.5.3-6.5 lakhs ex-Mumbai showroom and will give strict competition to the Nissan Micra. After the Pulse, a revamped Logan based on a C-platform is due to be launched in mid of 2012, these are serious moves by French automotive maker to make Renault noticeable in India.
