Asia Bizz: A report published by the Internet and Mobile Association of India and IMRAB has said that the internet community of India will total 121 million users by the end of the year 2011. The reason stated by the reports had been attributed to the increase in internet penetration and also the availability of the affordable personal computers.

The reports stated that the internet population in India would increase from 100 million users to 121 million users by the end of December 2011. Subho Ray, the President of the Internet and Mobile Association of India has said that they have achieved a critical mass and that would usher in a new stage of growth for the economy.

The report also suggested that in the next four to five years, India would have the largest number of users in the world. It further added that out of 121 million users, 97 million users would be active internet users at least once in a month. Out of these records, 92 million users would be from the urban parts of the country and 29 million would be the rural users.

With regards to the 97 million active users, 73 million would be from the cities and the rest would be from the rural areas.
