Asia Bizz: The popular Eon from the small car segment of Hyundai Motors will soon be made available in Nepal. The company said that the car would be launched in the year 2012, but due to the heavy import duties on the Completely Built Unit (CBU) in Nepal, the car is likely to come at a heavy price.
It is expected that the Eon might be priced a 9.5 lakhs to 15 lakhs Nepali Rupees. The Nepal distributor of Hyundai, Laxmi Intercontinental will be selling the car in the country.
Like in the Indian market, the entry level car would be positioned below the Hyundai Santro Xing. In India, Hyundai is offering six variants of the Eon in the market, while in Nepal only three variants will be expected to be released.
In Nepal, only the base, middle and the top version would be available. After the Nano, the Hyundai Eon will be the cheapest car in Nepal. Hyundai is confident of the sales of the car in the upcoming months. In the future, there are hopes that the car would also be offered to the other neighboring countries like Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Bhutan. The car can also be offered to the other countries as the whole region has right hand drive cars.
