Asia Bizz: The popular OS Chromebook, introduced by the search engine giant Google, will soon be available in the Indian market. The Chromebook is popular as it has been specially designed for the web browsing and runs on the Chrome Operating system.
The Chromebook is likely to be shipped in India by early 2012. Sundar Pichai, the senior vice president of Chrome and apps of Google, said that he would be very surprised if the Chromebook is not shipped in India by early 2012.
Sunder added that they see India as a huge potential market for them. The vice president even added that the Chrome is very popular on laptops and that 98 percent of the time is spent on internet browsing.
This was the reason Sunder said that motivated them to take the next step and build an OS to bring out the full power of the web browsers in simple, fast and secure package. The Chromebook had first began shipping in the global market in the month of June 2011. It was in the month of October 2011 when the Chrome had overtaken the Microsoft’s Internet Explorer as the most popular web browser in India. The Chromebook was first shipped in the global market with the devices manufactured by Samsung and Acer.
