Asia Bizz: Indian auto giant Tata Motors has launched its upgraded version of its Nano in the Indian market on November 21, 2011. The company, in a statement, said that the new Nano would have a better mileage with better interiors and features at no extra cost.
The attempts are being made by the company in order to boost the sales of the car. Since the launch of the world’s cheapest car, the company had high expectations with the sales.
But things did not go as planned and the downfall of the sales began soon after the launch of the Nano. This happened as the customers did not want to have a cheap car and Nano was offered by the company at Rs 1 lakh. The new Nano has a 624 cc engine and would give an average of 25.4 kmpl compared to the earlier 23.6 kmpl.
Despite adding the new features, the company has not increased the price of the car and has been priced between Rs. 1.40 lakh and Rs. 1.96 lakh. The managing director of Tata Motors, PM Telang said that more than 90 percent of the Tata Nano owners are satisfied with their choice and have given their feedback of what can be improved. The new improvements are thus based on the customer feedback.
