Asia Bizz: Japanese auto giant Honda announced on November 22, 2011 said that it will launch the facelifted version of its Honda City in the month of December 2011. The company previously announced that they would be launching the new City in the Indian market in January 2012.

The new Honda City was unveiled in the month of May and in the month of September it was launched in the Thailand market. During the Thailand launch, it was announced that the Indian market would soon have the new City in November 2011.

Later on, the company announced that the new City would be launched in 2012 due to the shortage of spare parts, as the floods in Thailand affected the production of the parts. The Honda City is the most popular sedan in the Indian market and it has been maintaining the top position since the past 13 years. But now the City has got competition from other auto companies like Hyundai, Volkswagen, Ford and Skoda.

The company might have pre-poned the launch of the new sedan due to the increasing competition in the market. In the recent days, the sales of the Honda City has decreased due to the non-availability of the diesel version of the sedan.
