Asia Bizz: Web portal Yahoo! India has launched a free online video service known as the Yahoo! Video on November 22, 2011 in collaboration with content producers. The new service offers premium content that caters to users with videos from various genres like entertainment, news, lifestyle and movies.
The service provides content from 35 leading content providers which also include film production houses and TV networks. It has been found that most of the internet users spend more time in watching videos.
A recent report stated that more than 30 million unique users watch online videos in a month in India. According to per user average, around 58 videos are watched online. The company has now promised that it would provide original content and that the environment is safe for publishers and content providers.
The service generates content from original sources with the help of video capsules including short and full length movies. Arun Tadanki, the managing director of Yahoo! India said that online video consumption is growing at rapid pace and that Indian market badly wanted a safe and piracy free destination that delivers high quality and strictly original content. Tadanki added that the new service is free and a bold step that redefines the online video category through licensed and original content.
