Asia Bizz: Auto giant Skoda Auto India is attempting to strengthen its position in the C-segment in the Indian market. The company has recently launched its Rapid car in the C segment and expects it to be among the top contributors in the sales of the Skoda Cars in India.
By 2012, the company hopes that the new sedan in the market can contribute to 50 percent of the total volume sales of the Skoda cars in India. The director of sales and marketing of Skoda Auto India, Thomas Kuhel, said that they intend to strengthen the presence of the company in the Indian market in the highly competitive C segment with the launch of Rapid.
Kuhel added that their plans with the Rapid in India are highly ambitious and also expect it to become the best selling car in the segment of the country. Though the company may be facing a turbulent time in the market, it maintained that it has registered 50 percent growth in the first ten months of January to October.
The company has reached to 24,000 units in ten months compared to the 20,400 units last year. Skoda also said that it expects to close with 30,000 units by the end of the year.
