Asia Bizz: The Indian car market is now facing a sharp downfall in the sales of the cars compared to the sales of the last year. But it has been noticed that the luxury car segment has been unaffected by the downfall of sales.

The instance has been taken of the sales of the car in the Indian city of Kolkata, where the sales of the luxury car has been constantly rising.

Some of the leading car makers like Mercedes, Audi, BMW, Jaguar and Land Rover have been experiencing a rise in the sales of the luxury cars instead of the downfall in the period of January to October 2011. In the recent days, customers have been keeping themselves away from buying cars due to the rising fuel prices and also the high interest rates on car loans.

The decrease in the sales of the car has affected many of the leading car companies like Maruti Suzuki, Mahndra & Mahindra and Tata. But despite the current situation the luxury car segment has not been affected. Sandeep Kumar Bajaj, the MD of Audi Kolkata, said that they had a fabulous festive season this year and are close to touch 250 cars compared to 121 cars sold last year.
