Asia Bizz: Indian auto giant Maruti Suzuki is striving to improve its market share which has declined in the recent days. In order to improve its sales, the company is soon going to introduce new products in the market, which include mini cars that would be powered by 660 cc engines.
Such mini cars are popular in Japan and are known as ‘Kei’ cars. The company will also be introducing its first SUV and it will enter in to the segment competing against several SUVs in the market.
In this fiscal year, Maruti Suzuki has suffered 7% downfall in the market share. One of the major problems faced by the company is its prolonged labor problems at one of its factories which manufactures its popular hatchbach Swift.
The company is now all set to showcase its two new cars at the New Delhi auto expo next year. However, Maruti Suzuki has not confirmed about its launch in India. Mayank Pareek, the managing executive officer of Maruti Suzuki India said that thought the cars have been powered by 660 cc engines, they would not be priced as low as the Nano. Pareek clarified that the cars are being introduced at the expo so as to study the customer feedback and that for now they do not have any plans to introduce them in India.
