Asia Bizz: Indian auto giant Maruti Suzuki has taken it’s status of being the most popular car manufacturer in India to planning to enter in to different segments of the market. The company will be launching its first multi purpose vehicle (MPV) Ertiga for the Indian market at the Auto Expo that would be held in January 2012 in Delhi.
Maruti Suzuki decided to enter the new segment as 15 percent of the sales account in the utility vehicles. Apart from the new MPV, the company will also be unveiling its first SUV at the expo.
On the other hand, MPV accounts for at least 9 percent of the total share in the market. The new Ertiga will have a K14 VVT engine and a 1.3 litre Diesel DDiS Super Turbo engine.
Mayank Pareek, the Managing executive director of Maruti Suzuki said that the market has now become more competitive and that they have to now gear up for the new dynamics. Pareek added that they are now trying to show the best that they can offer. The models like the SUV, MUV and the MPV would be showcased for the customers so that the company can get a feedback. With the launch of the latest models the company is now aiming a 50 percent share in the market.
