Asia Bizz: Mobile phone manufacturing giant Nokia is now all set to launch its Lumia, which is the first smartphone that will be based on the Windows operating system. The Lumia will be launched in India this month.

The smartphone will be the first offering of the partnership between the Finnish company and the American software giant Microsoft. The Lumia was launched globally in the month of October, 2011 and the new product is expected to give a good boost to the sales of Nokia.

There are already several products in the smartphone segment from the different companies and Lumia is expected to help Nokia to get a good boost in the segment which has now become a highly competitive and lucrative segment.

Vipul Mehrotra, the director and head of smart devices of Nokia India announced on December 1, 2011 that they are expecting the Lumia to be launched by the mid of December and things are on track. Mehrotra added that two versions of the Lumia 800 and the 710 will be launched in the Indian market. The price of the Lumia in India is yet to be determined by the company but the director assured that the price of the 710 Lumia will be priced at a relatively lower price. Meanwhile, the company has launched its Asha series in India.
