Asia Bizz: Spanish car making manufacturer Seat might soon enter the Indian auto market. Seat is a part of the Volkswagen group and is expected to enter the market in order to expand the presence of Volkswagen.
At present, the brand is all set to enter the Chinese market and is expected to arrive in India soon after. So far, the performance of the Seat cars in the global market has been average and the introduction of the budget cars in India might help the company boost its sales.
As far as the popularity is concerned, not many users are aware of it, but in India, it all depends on the requirements of the customers. Indian customers demand young and vibrant designs which will also give them the value for their money.
Volkswagen is considered as a premium brand while Skoda concentrates more on the cost conscious customers. There are many cars of Seat, Skoda and Volkswagen which are built in the same platform. They also share components which enabled them to be manufactured in the same production line. The Seat Ibiza is based on the same platform as of the Skoda Fabia and VW Polo. Due to the similarity in the platform, it helped VW to test the reliability before the launch of the Polo.
