Asia Bizz: For those who missed the low-priced Aakash Tablet, they can now have their hands on the commercial version of it, which is also known as ‘UbiSlate 7’. Datawind, the company which has developed that tablet, has put on sale the device to woo those who could not buy the tablet.
Earlier, the company put on sale the previous version of the tablet, but as the stock was limited, not many individuals could get their hands on it. The new Aakash is now priced at Rs. 2,999, while the earlier version was priced at Rs. 2,500.
The new version is a better deal as it has an OS of Android 2.3 and is enabled with Wi-Fi and GPRS functionality. The UbiSLate 7 is just a student version while the UbiSlate 7+ will be available everywhere for everyone.
The device was developed by the company in an initiative by the Indian government to connect 25,000 colleges and 400 universities in an e-learning program. Apart from the device, the device also comes with many options for accessories. It has 2 USB ports and can also be used as a phone. The accessories include car chargers, keyboard case and external antennas. The device also has the option of 3G.
