The first four-wheeler by Bajaj will be unveiled in Delhi on January 3, 2012 and will be named as RE60. The launch of the four wheeler will also make way for the future range of three to four wheeler passenger and goods transport vehicles.
The company clarified that it does not want their product to be compared to Tata Nano and stated that the RE60 will have its own type of transportation solution in the low cost segment. People familiar with the matter said that the new car will be powered by a two or three cylinder petrol motor along with a displacement of 700-800 cc at the most.
So with a lower power, the speed of the car will not exceed more than 90 Kph. But at the same time, such a power will give users better fuel efficiency which is expected to be 30 kmpl. Originally, the RE60 was known as the Ultra Low Cost Car project which was a joint venture between Bajaj and Renault-Nissan.
