Asia Bizz: Car manufacturer Fiat launched its updated version of its sedan Linea and its hatchback Punto on January 3, 2012. The company has taken the step so as to boost the sales of the cars in the Indian market.

Fiat, which is in collaboration with Tata Motors , claimed that the new 2012 models have many features which were not available in the earlier version and also in the competitor’s segment. Some of the interesting features include the rain sensing wipers, fully refreshed wipers and auto switch on and off headlamps.

The hatchback Punto has got many features like enhanced ground clearance, central locking in the base variant, audio system, fabric seats, carpets, etc. With the help of the new features, the company hopes that it will help in boosting the sales of the car.

After a good start at the beginning of the launch, the response for the sales of the Linea and Punto were good but gradually the sales started decreasing. During the period of April –December, Fiat India sold 10, 875 units in the domestic market, which came down from 15, 185 units sold during the same period last year.

The Linea is available between the price of Rs. 6.83-9.18, while the Punto has been priced between Rs. 4.81-6.71.
