Asia Bizz: The year 2011 has been difficult for Maruti Suzuki India Limited with labor problems. But now the company is eager to show itself as one of the leading auto companies in the year 2012 and make up for the losses.
The Auto Expo 2012 has provided a good platform where the company unveiled its Ertiga, which is a multi-utility vehicle. With the Ertiga, Maruti Suzuki has entered the utility vehicles segment in the Indian market.
The cost of the new Ertiga, which is a seven seater, will be announced in the month of April 2012 during the launch. However, it is expected that the price could be around Rs. 7 lakhs.
The Ertiga MUV will be powered by a 1.4 litre K14 VVT petrol engine and a 1.3 litre DDiS super turbo diesel engine. The petrol variant is expected to give an average of 16.02 kmpl while the diesel variant with 20.77 kmpl.
The officials at Maruti Suzuki are quite confident of the success of the MUV, considering its competitive pricing against reigning rivals like Chevrolet Tavera, Toyota Innova, Tata Sumo and Tata Aria. The new Ertiga will be highly fuel efficient and like all the other Maruti Suzuki vehicles this one will also be one of the low maintenance vehicles.
