Asia Bizz: Bajaj Auto, in collaboration with Austrian manufacturer KTM, has launched its Duke 200 bike in the Indian market on January 24, 2012. The new KTM Duke 200 bike has been priced at Rs. 1.17 lakh ex-showroom New Delhi.

The managing director, Rajiv Bajaj, said that with the help of the KTM Duke and the Bajaj Pulsar, the company is trying to strengthen their dominant position in the sports motorcycle segment in India. Rajiv even assured that they will be launching at least one KTM bike model every year in the Indian market.

Bajaj has a 39% stake in the Austrian company, with whom it manufactures two models – the Duke 125 and Duke 200 – at the Chakan plant near Pune in the state of Maharashtra, India. For Duke bikes, the company is converting all the Bajaj Probiking Showrooms into KTM stores across the country.

The new Duke 200 has a 200cc liquid cooled four valve engine which is capable of generating power of 25 bhp and a maximum torque of 19Nm. Hubert Trunkenpolz, the chief sales officer of KTM power Sports said that they will be producing 3,000 units per month at the Chakan plant and that they are very optimistic about the sales prospects as they have a very attractive price.
