Asia Bizz: Japan based motor company Honda has recently confirmed that it will be unveiling its much awaited small capacity diesel engine during the Geneva Motor Show next month. The company is all set to unveil its 1.6 litre turbo diesel engine, which will be first featured in the new Euro spec Honda Civic and will be included in the new Indian Civic by the end of 2012.
The new engine by Honda is one of the new generations engines to appear in the upcoming years under the ‘Earth Dreams’ technology of Honda. It is a 1,596 cc engine which will have the capacity of producing 120PS max power at 4,000 rpm and 300 Nm of max torque at 2,000 rpm.
The best thing about the engine is its light weight and the company claims that it will be the lightest engine in its class, which weighs less than a 1.6 litre petrol engine. Meanwhile, the company is yet to unveil the average fuel consumption figures.
Honda also state that the CO2 emissions will be below 100g/km. Last week, it was reported that Honda will be introducing diesel variants of the Brio by the month of October/ November 2012 in the Indian market.
