Asia Bizz: Asia South Korean company Samsung stated that it aims to make its presence more prominent in the notebook industry market in India. On on February 23, 2012, the electronics giant said that it aims to increase its share to 12 percent this year with the help of its expansion of product portfolio and retail presence across the country.
As a part of its expansion plans, the company has now launched its new Series 5 Ultra notebooks that are light weight and it has made the device very portable. The devices are priced at Rs 48,990 for 13 inches and Rs 54, 390 for 14 inches.
The new Ultrabooks have been powered by Intel Core i5 processor with 8 GB memory and has the storage capacity of up to one TB. Samsung in the Notebook PC range has 30 models that are priced between Rs 14,990 to Rs 1 lakh.
Ranjit Yadav, the Samsung Country head said that notebooks is a big category for them and they expect it to be a major growth in India. Yadav added that that they aimed 8 percent share in the market but this year they aim for 12 percent share in this category. In terms of retain expansion, Yadav said that the company will have 200 exclusive stores by the end of the year.
