Asia Bizz: The popular Superbike World Championship (WSBK ) is all set to enter India. Just a year from now, the Ducatis and Hondas will be seen at the Buddh International Circuit and this will be the first time the championship will be touching the Indian soil.
Last year, Formula One had magnified the country’s name in the world motor sports map and now the WSBK does not have any other choice than to follow in the steps of Formula One. Maurizio Flammini, the president of Infront Motor Sports (IMS) said that they can expect the first World Superbike ace to take place in the year 2013.
IMS are the promoters of the WSBK, regulated by the World Motorcycle Federation FIM. The bikes that will be used for the premier racing series will be the tuned versions of the Hondas, Kawasakis, Ducatis and Suzukis that also make consumer vehicles.
The Championship has returned to Asia after nine years by announcing Indonesia as one of the venues in the year 2013. The round in India is expected to take place next year, while the date for Indonesia is yet to be finalized. An official from Jaypee group said that the race will most likely happen early next year and will be decided after the final round of the meeting with the WSBK officials.
