Asia Bizz: In some good news for all those eagerly waiting the arrival of the upgraded version of the Aakash Tablet, the device will be launched next month in India. HRD minister Kapil Sibal confirmed the news saying that the Aakash II will be launched at the same price and no price hike will be introduced.

The HRD minister was reportedly addressing the questions put to him at the Question Hour session at the Lok Sabha. During the session, Sibal said that the manufacturer’s Datawind will be introducing about 1 lakh units of the Aakash 2 tablet in the market.

While talking about the improved specifications, Sibal said that the higher specifications will include 700 MHz Cortex A8 processor 3200 mAh battery with three hour usage time along with a capacitive touch screen. The new improvements have been introduced to overcome the initial difficulties observed in the devices.

It was also informed by the minister that the initial batch of the Aakash II tablets will be received by students pursuing their education in the higher technical educational institutions, so that proper technical feedback can be received on the device’s usability and operation. Sibal also said that the making of the tablet available to the students of the lower strata of the society would require funds.
