Asia Bizz: American automotive giant General Motors launched the new version of its multi utility vehicle Tavera in the Indian market on March 21, 2012. The new Tavera is compliant with the latest Bharat Stage IV emission norms.
The new model from GM has been priced between Rs 7.51 lakhs and Rs 10.34 lakhs. Lowell Paddock, the GM India president and managing director, said that GM engineers carried out an extensive upgrade of the popular Tavera based on computer feedback.
Lowell added that the result is a stylish yet durable vehicle that is perfectly suited for personal as well as business use. Till now the Tavera was available with only a BS III engine which had stopped selling in the 13 cities after the regions moved on to the BS IV emission norms in the year 2010.
The new Tavera will sport a 2 litre diesel engine which will be sourced from Sonalika Group, which serves as a contract manufacturer. The company hopes to sell 25,000 unit of the new Tavera. The highest variant of the new Tavera features twin port grille and a bugger Chevrolet bowtie in the front as well as the back. It also has a larger shimmering crystal effect clear lens headlamps with integrated indicator lamps.
