Asia Bizz: South Korean electronics manufacturer LG is all set to launch 12 Android based smartphones in the low, mid as well as high end categories in the Indian market. The company will be launching the handsets this year in order to make its presence more prominent in the market.

The head of marketing Mobile Communications, Sanjay Maheshwari from LG Mobiles said that it will be launching 12 Android based handsets in the price bracket of Rs 7,000 to Rs 35,000 in the Asian nation. Maheshwari added that it will begin the launch of the Android handsets in the country from the month of May with the Optimus 4X D smartphone, which comes with the Android Ice Cream Sandwich mobile operating system along with quad ore Nvidia Tegra 3 mobile processor.

It was further revealed  that the company expects the sales of LG mobiles to touch 18-20 million units in the year 2012 with 80 percent demand for the devices in the category of Rs 10,000. The upcoming Optimus 4X HD smartphone will have 1GB RAM and 16 GB on board memory.

The smartphone will also feature an 8.1 megapixel camera with LED flash, along with a 1.3 mega pixel front camera for video calling and video chats.
