Asia Bizz: On March 26, 2012, two of Boeing Co’s 787’s were delivered to Japan Airlines. This will be the first 787s which will be flying commercially from the US.

Japan Airlines plans to fly the new planes between Boston and Tokyo from April 22, 2012. The airlines later has plans to add flights between San Diego and Tokyo.

A total of 45 of the planes have been ordered by the airlines and Boeing has booked orders of 873 orders of the planes in all.

The first of the 787 planes was delivered to JAL competitor All Nippon Airways Co. The US carrier, United Airlines, will become the first in the US to get one later this year. The 787 planse delivered on Monday are the first with the General Electric engines. The US government approval was finalized for the 787 Boeing engines only last week.

Boeing company is the American multinational aerospace corporation that was found in the year 1916 by William E Boeing in Seattle, Washington. Over the years, the company has expanded by merging with McDonnell Douglas in the year 1997. By revenue, orders and deliveries, Boeing is among the largest aircraft manufacturers as well as the third largest aerospace and defence contractor.
